Well, there is logic to your argument. To digest your philosophy and put it plainly, it is a dog-eat-dog world. We live in a realist world, and despite the brave efforts of minority groups who have sincere convictions about the goodness of Man, history has shown us time and time again how self-interested and violent we really are.

However, if we were to adopt your somewhat extreme position on the sustainability of life, there is really no path out. Humans are meant to seek means of survival. As such, they have come up with creative, innovative ways to ensure their own survival. However, man's history is not shaped by man alone. Throughout history, contingent events have dramatically shaped the trajectory of significant world events. Remember Adolf Hitler was almost killed as a young soldier. The invention of X-rays was an accident, and so on.

To justify human existence, we must not give too much credit to Man. You are right about how human cells work. You also cleverly pointed out the reality behind financial success and lack of resources. What is frightening is that Man today largely bases his/her self worth on others' recognition. The physical appearance, the observed ability to have the most updated consumer goods- it's all come down to a high school popularity contest.

That being said, I urge you to consider that there is indeed good left in Man. Those who fight for injustice on behalf of others, those who are willing to sacrifice much to secure the future of the coming generations. We have to believe that there is still a glimmer of hope in this increasingly chaotic and violent world. The existence of the human race can be strengthened when more people acknowledge that individual gains must be redistributed into the society for greater good. That is how we can all survive.
