One of the biggest problem with Flash Player 9 AS3 is that it doesn’t take initiative in cleaning up its mess and you always have to tell it what to do and even so, they do not do it promptly. If the mess doesn’t affect us, we can easy just turn a blind eye to it and hope they will clean it up eventually, but unfortunately, this is not the case.

Despite the many performance increase, the community has considered this the biggest downgrade from AS2 and the folks at Adobe responsed by adding Loader.unloadAndStop() to Flash Player 10. This method acts like a catalyst to really unload the loaded Loader content thereby allowing better garbage collection management.
